Fall, the season to let go
Fall is my favorite season, it’s also my birthday season, and a season of giving thanks. Not to mention we get to admire the brilliant colors and the cool, crisp air.
There’s a lot of “mys” during the fall season (mys is a Swedish word that can be translated as coziness.)
The beginning of the holiday season always feels cozy. We are lighting candles, using our fire places and pits, there is a chill in the air which calls for cozy sweaters and blankets. And Fall is a season to let go.
We can learn from the trees. They let go of their dead leaves to make room for new growth and they do it in a beautiful way.
We’re all familiar with the concept of Spring Cleaning, but how about also cleaning out in the Fall, and letting go of negativity, bad habits, old beliefs or fears, and other things that don’t reflect who we are now?
What are some things you can let go of?
What are some new routines you can fall into?
New habits and routines, ones that better serve us, make us feel better and more energized.
To really enjoy the Fall season and practice self-care, why not try one (or all) of these suggestions:
Enjoy the crisp, Fall air and the beautiful colors by taking a walk in nature (spending time in nature has a very calming effect.)
Light a candle (maybe with your favorite fragrance) in a quiet place and try some deep breathing exercises and/or meditation.
Snuggle up with a blanket (or a pet) in a comfy chair and read a book you’ve been wanting to read for a long time.
Light the fireplace or sit around the fire pit and spend quality time with your loved ones.
Clean out your closet and let go of anything that doesn’t express who you are anymore.
Start a gratitude journal and replace negativity in your life with thoughts of gratitude.
